Resignation , Ultimatums, and Call for Order
Agreement between CMG and community representatives now in doubt

The agreement between CMG 2.0 and the Council is on the verge of collapse. It aimed to foster a more inclusive community by creating partnerships between CMG leadership and the Council. The Head of Council secured support from representatives and committee chairs for the agreement, placing several CMG admins in key positions and granting them a voting block. Announced last November, negotiated in December, and supported by the Council in January, the agreement intended to advance community cooperation.   Just over a week ago, Representative Rubeus Matre of CMG announced her intention to resign, thereby terminating the agreement. No reasons were provided for her resignation, and attempts to discuss the matter were unsuccessful. As a result of Matre’s resignation, the agreement was nullified, leading to the removal of Senior Advisor Wolly Might and Senior Advisor Gog Sheklah from their positions. Both Might and Sheklah (CMG ADMINS) held their roles  primarily due to the agreement with the Council. This single resignation has resulted in the dissolution of an agreement which significantly impacts the broader community, the Council, and CMG membership, undoing all efforts to establish lasting understanding.

Although no member of the Council will discuss the ongoing issue, The Aether was granted access to Council records and permitted to review the official discussions held within the Council. It is evident that a conflict has arisen involving a community member (the individual's name is withheld to prevent escalation of the conflict), Representative Matre, Senior Advisors, and a negotiator appointed by the Council to resolve the issue. Representative Matre-CMG addressed the Council, expressing her opinions about the individual and informing the Council that certain members, presumably herself and other CMG administrators, would consider resigning if this person were granted a seat on the Council.  Effectively providing an ultimatum to the Council and attempting to dictate conditions, she was deemed out of order by the Head of Council. The Council operates with a structured format that requires any matter or issue to go through an agenda process. These rules have been developed over the last decade by the Council to ensure that every representative has the opportunity to provide their opinion and participate in the discussion.

Senior Advisor Mad Queen and Representative Jessica Starfire, who participated in the discussion, also received disciplinary actions from the Head of Council. Senior Advisor Mad Queen was ruled out of order and subsequently removed from her position based on the statement that she had been previously warned about such behavior in the Council. The Honorable Jessica Starfire received a light warning and was directed to refer to her orientation materials, which outline proper behavior and procedures during Council Sessions. She has recently taken her seat on the Council as the representative for Chaos Magick Fundamentals and was granted some leniency.

The Aether found no intervening debate regarding the matter, aside from a directive by the Head of Council to place the topic on the agenda and schedule a time for discussion. It was also indicated that consultation with other members of the Council and leadership should occur prior to presenting the issue to the Council. It is presumed that Representative Rubeus Matre issued her resignation sometime between the initial discussion (deemed out of order) and when the issue was scheduled to be discussed in Council.

It is unclear whether this issue led the CMG representative to end the agreement, as there is no official confirmation. The Aether has not found any formal notification of resignation within the Council, making it impossible to determine the reasons behind the resignation. Additionally, it cannot be confirmed if the agreement has been breached, given the absence of an official resignation and the uncertainty regarding the representative's authority to withdraw CMG from the Council.

The Honorable Richard Knight, chairman of the Council Membership and Oversight Committee, called a brief session where he asserted his committee's jurisdiction over “all matters pertaining to the issues of CMG status and the Council.” As chairman of the committee, Knight's support was essential for the agreement, along with the Pagan Caucus, which comprises representatives from the pagan community in the Council. The Pagan Caucus represents approximately 90,000 members.

Knight's actions are seen as an initial step towards addressing the situation, emphasizing that the agreement involved the pagan community. With the Council on summer break until the end of August, the matter will be resolved privately before the next session. The outcome will impact on the community, serving either as an example of effective resolution or a failure to promote cooperation and unity.
